Silver Dollar Lake

When was the fun: August 1st, 2010
Who went: Mark, Kathleen and Family
Distance from Boulder: 2.5 hours (1.5 if Guanella pass is open)
Adventure was near: Georgetown, CO
Hiking Distance : 5 miles
Lat,Long of Trailhead : 39.607087,-105.7293

This was the second hike I did with Kathleen and her family on their summer visit. This hike starts in the trees and climbs up onto the side of the valley above the trees about a mile from the trailhead. From here on their are views up the valley and down to a nice cabin on a lake. The trail never gets too steep and we quickly reached Silver Dollar Lake. There we're a lot of people fishing in this lake and a really nice waterfall with lots of wildflowers. Unfortunately, soon after we arrived at the lake we heard thunder in the distance and decided we had better head down since we had over a mile of exposed trail.
